What?
A drive from Kuching to Ba Kelalan return. Participants e.g. from Sibu and Bintulu may join the convoy along the way. The drive will be a mix of asphalt, logging and mud roads. There will be lots of mud and more mud. Mud terrain tyres are a must. ATs cannot be used!

When?
27 January to 3 February, 2006. Need to take 3 days leave (28 Jan and  3 Feb)

Route:
Follows a clockwise direction from Kuching to Miri, then through Brunei to Lawas. Lawas through Lg. Semado to Ba'Kelalan. Coming out, the expedition proper takes place with off road driving from Ba'Kelalan to Lg. Semadoh to Lg. Bedian and spending a night there. The following day, head to Lg. Lama and arrive in Bintulu. From there drive back to Kuching.

  • The expedition will be limited to 15 vehicles.
  • This is an Off Road Trax course where participants would learn and participate in advanced level expedition driving.
  • Prepare to camp along the way as the route may be impassable (broken bridges, etc.)
  • There would be a participation fee. This is to be confirmed. Also expect additional expenses for fuel (expensive in interior) estimated at RM 1,500 and accommodation and food expenses.
  • Vehicles need to be scrutinised and organisers would advice participants on how to prepare for this trip including spares to take along.
  • There would be recovery vehicles and also mechanic on this expedition.

    Off Road Trax is an effort by the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism to encourage people to drive safely to build domestic tourism and run by Best Systems.
