![]() SUPERPRO OFFICIAL WEBSITE LINK HERE. Borneo4X4 has installed Superpro bushes in three of our own cars.. why? Through the years we have owned a number of cars. None of them were new. One of the first things about owning a used car was to improve the handling to make it feel like a 'new car'. One of the best ways is to recondition the entire suspension system- springs, shocks and bushes. The first cheaper option is to work on the bushes. We had two Land Rover Defenders (bought and sold at different time), and this was when we found the advantages of using polyurethane bushes. Original parts often use rubber. Rubber fits better as it is 'flexible' and can shape itself to the fitting when new, but in the long run, the very 'flex' that it has makes it loose. It was venerable to UV, and degenerates a little faster than polyurethane. But the poly bushes used on the Land Rovers were expensive as they were imported from the UK. We had also used several brands and some were better and more durable than others, some degrading faster and worse than rubber. On our Dry Safari Trip covering the north of Borneo from Kuching to Ranau, we went to Borneo4WD to buy a set of Superpro Bushes (at a fair price) for our Rang Rover Vogue Classic. Buying Superpro was first purely an economic decision as it was much cheaper than the ones imported from UK. Upon fitting we drove up into the highlands of Borneo covering the climb to Kinabalu Park, Mesilau, then to some off road jungles tracks, up and over the Crocker Range over pretty rough terrain. The car felt new upon fitting of the bushes and better handling characteristics driving off road. But the test of the Superpro is not when it is new but six months later when we did an overnight off road trip. The vehicle still handled like it did when the bushes were installed, that was when we were convinced that Superpro Bushes were the bushing of choice. So what makes them a little better than others? I am no expert in chemistry and resilient properties of polyurethane and polymers but the full story can be found here (in laymen's terms) http://www.fulcrumsuspensions.com/superpro_products.html But this is what Borneo4X4 knows: Superpro is a suspension specialist. The main mother company is Fulcrum and they are fast becoming Australia's top suspension company having a top R&D programme and having a range of products for premium performance. Click this for Fulcrum official website. Superpro and Fulcrum has suspension components for both high performance cars e.g., rally, super touring as well as 4X4 vehicels. Superpro's polyurethane uses a mix of resins and also curing agents to make it more lasting than rubber of plastics. The blend of the polyurethane makes it more durable in areas of abrasion, compression, tear strength, resistance to oils and chemicals. All Superpro bushes are greasable and the design of the bushing allows for grease to travel along the contact area especially the heads of the bushings. Bushes that have metal parts in them will benefit from this. Upon fitting of the new polyurethane bushes, one MUST use the white grease that is supplied with the kit. It looks to Borneo4X4 like lithium grease but we're not able to confirm this. Also get a specialist to fit the bushes. Bushes will get damaged by using the wrong tools. Jacks and presses are needed to properly fit the bushes. You can get mail order Superpro Bushes from Borneo 4 Wheel Drive. |
