The dry weather made driving easy -real easy. There was no need
for winching or even mud terrain tyres. The camping was perhaps the
highlight of the trip.
Well it certainly was an adventurous outing. After breakfast and a
short briefing, the convoy made it to Batu Lintang, then hit the off
road, climbing up and over mountainous ridges. The view was nothing
short of breath taking, rolling hills and green rainforest as far as the
eyes can see. Drivers were very patient as they practiced waiting for
others to get up and over the steep ascend before they shoot up. There
were a number of occasions that drivers had to put pedal to the metal to
gain as much momentum to get up the slope. The descends were easy with
the dry track, just shift to a lower gear and apply engine breaking.
The adventurous part of the trip was when the convoy, following the dirt
road veered into Indonesian territory and met with some Indon army.
After much persuasion and apologies, the convoy headed back into Sarawak. There was
not enough time to return via off road through Simunjan, and that being
the case, the convoy headed to more off road before hitting the main
