1. Eunice Lin - owner of Toyota Hilux
The Hilux came with standard front bumpers and an A-bar. "I have been wanting to swap the bar but could not find a suitable bar up to now". Now is when she found an ARB Commercial Winch Bar. Normal ARBs or its copies usually have a stainless steel shiny round bars on the top which to some is not rugged enough. This winch bar is a practical piece of apparatus. A winch can easily sit in it without having to make additional bracing. The entry angle has also improved by at least 15 degrees. There are also holes for sport lights and two antennas. Price is RM 2,000 (bar is not new) from Siong Fah, Miri but also available from any ARB agent such as 4WD Equipment in Miri and also Borneo 4WD centre in Kota Kinabalu. 2. Atek - Chief Scout and X-Men for the Malaysian Rainforest Challenge Idle time between RFCs are spent going fishing, scouting for other projects and also teaching others about 4X4 off road. Atek is seen here helping Malcolm to scout for a mountain bike track for the Eco-Games Kenyir a multi-sport adventure racing event. Going on a 4x4 is perhaps the best way to cover ground and getting stuck and recovering is just one of the many nice things that happen. 3. Lau Kah Kung and Aboy (with Eddie and the rest of the gang) The gang of Lau, Aboy, Eddie and friends went out to fine tune their cars. One needs to be familiar with a 4X4 competition vehicle and also to work out the bugs and the best way to do it is to actually drive it into some horrible pit and ditch and see if the lockers, winch, gears, etc works. This time round, Aboy found that his electric winch was not up to scratch and that he needs to lock in his coil spring. 4. Laurence Baraw - Project BJ 45 On returning from the Borneo Safari 2006, Laurence saw that he could greatly improve his rig - a BJ40. So he took it to a eh.. specialist and chop and welded everything. The list of mods are: new body layout to 2 seater with cab space, moving both his axels further for a longer wheel base, installing and relocating the PTO winch, change his leaf springs for coils, relocated and new fuel tank and finally new colour. Picture soon to come. ps. season starts in September with Central Sarawak FORCE (4X4 Off Road Challenge and Expedition), then Borneo Safari in Oct-Nov and then the Malaysian Rainforest Challenge in Nov-Dec.
