With the right metal worker, one
could make almost anything. But designing your own bumper (as with other
things) has its risks as mistakes are something that you'll have to live
with. So, we're been wanting a winch bumper bar and the ones in the
market are rather costly such as TJM and ARBs or don't fit the bill
(such as made in Thailand ones) and such did not appeal to us. Costs of
mass produced ones are better than custom made but, its not a design you
could call you own. So,
here's how it id done. Who made it? Chia Hua Exhaust and Welding co. at
Padungan. Costs? About RM 1,000.
 |
Metal sheets were bent and tacked welded to form the shape of
the winch bumper. The brace and mounts were measured, cut and
fitted with holes drilled. |
 |
The
edges were added and all joins were welded. |
 |
The
holes for the fair lead, spot lights and winch was drawn in and
cut with an oxyacetylene torch and grinded smooth. |
 |
The
winch bar was then dry fitted again to see if there was any need
for more adjustments .All holes for mounting, for the chequered
plates, etc were drilled. |
 |
The
bar was then sent for powder coating and the chequered plates
which had already been cut to size and holes drilled was
attached. |
 |
The
winch bar with spot lights fitted, was loosely bolted into place
and when all was good, the bolts were tightened. |
