We were welcome to KK by this glorious sunset

Scrutineering day.

Vehicles of all shapes and sizes were at Pan Pac, site for scrutineering

This Range Rover belonging to James Wong, president of KFWDC is the special - Ferrari Red!! and goes like one too.

Was is das?

The only thing about this Land Rover HCPU is the looks. Closer inspection reveals SS truck type mufflers, a V8 supercharged PP and super duper suspension

V8 Super Charges

Yes, this is it.. car won the V8 beauty contest

Another LR looking thing

Yes, it does look like a Land Rover but again, it's super Sabah modified under the skin

This is the only true red blood

The Fire and Rescue Land Rover is 100% original and yes, it proves that LR can take punishment. This chap is veteran of several Borneo Safaris.

I finally met up with James Wong, a legend in the 4x4 world in Sabah - after all these years of hearing about him

'Sun Fung' (Forest) Lee -

Lee Yung Sung is the chieft scout and responsible for turning the Bornean terrain into a tourture or an adventure

Food for the jungle

Sabah made bottled sambals are best for the forest. Just cook rice and mix with the different flavours.

Have winch will travel

Look closely, the electric Warn 8274 is mated to a PTO unit - making this a 2 in 1 winch

Festivities

Last chance to look smart and clean. As the safari moved into the jungle, mud, sweat and dirt too over

The Chuck Wagon

looks like a LR SII. Again, a Sabah special with portal axels, 14BT engine and the works

Stock Hilux

My stock Hilux made it up the ramp and into Telupid to witness SS3.

Bounce Baby

SS 1 had the usual Sabah style of a dry hard terrain. After SS 1 & 2, all the SS were very wet, thanks to Typhoon Cinarom that lashed the Phillipines.

Jump Baby

This is designed as a test for competitor's vehicle. If it cannot pass this, then the jungle is not for it

A Classic

This Willy's Jeep in pristiner restored condition was seen at SS 1

Mt. Kinabalu

As seen from the Pine Resort in it's full glory at 5.30 am

BBQ in full view

of Mt. K. It's so cool uphere that we cooked without breaking a sweat!
