MOUNTAIN BIKING HEAVEN

Hans Rey and Malcolm at trial head outside Kuching, circa 2001

Here are just some of the trails we have on offer:

1. Central Kuching DBKU Track about 5km lap - XC race course. This is perfect for an evening ride where there are flats, technical descends with a few severe climbs. One could ride to it from the city.

2. Temple of the Doom 7km from Kuching- Matang Hindu temple trail - up and down trail 6km short but is a pleasant ride with technical bits and nice long grinding climb. Can ride an extension to the Family Park. Read the trail review here

3. Singgai about 15 km from Kuching (old Rainforest Cup Trail) - 15 km loop mix country road and singletrack. Due to the nature of shifting farms and land developments, one needs to go where the trail takes you. Rooty and technical in parts.

6. Segong aka 5 Ton 20+ km from Kuching (off the Tondong Road) 20+ km loop mix but with very nice technical singletrack - one of our favourite with lots of technical bits.

7. Bau 45 km from Kuching - Jalan Gunung - Mountain trail connects Bau to Krongkong Trail comprise of a to and fore loop over a corn filed which has tight windy singletrack.

8. Benuk 40 km from Kuching - this is an in and out trail from the Benuk Village. This is 100% singletrack with lots of technical obstacles. Riding technical singlestrack one way and back the other is as good as riding two different trails!

8. Sematan 100 km from Kuching - mountain bike paradise - all types of trails and we estimate that has to be at least 60-80 km for riding trails with all - waterfalls, desert type heat, covered singletrack, killer climbs, screaming downhills- the lot. Highly recommended to ride trails here as this is our premier MTB area.

Hydration?
Use a good system - like a Camelbak or similar. Think 1 liter per hour.

Safety.
There has never been any incident of MTB riders being mug or otherwise had a bad experience. There are also no known animals that would attack you except maybe bees!
