Mt. Murud Adventure Trek
6D/5N
This trek is designed for
those who want to ascend up Sarawak's highest mountain and end the
adventure at a mountainous rice growing village of Ba'Kelalan. This trip
allows visitors to enjoy the vicinity of the Church Camp at Reked
Meligan,Batu Linanit and to visit the Rock Garden and Summit at 2,424 m.
There are lots of unique flora here, especially at the Rock Garden with
its unique micro environment. The photographic opportunities are
excellent from landscape, flora, fauna and people. Moderate fitness
trek.

The itinerary:
Day
1 (Dinner)
Those starting in Kuching will fly KCH to BKI (Kota Kinabalu) on
Malaysian Airlines. After bruch in KK, embark overland to Lawas, a small administrative riverine town
in north Sarawak. Embark overland by 4X4 to Merarap - Hot Spring lodge
where we'll spend a night. This is a unique place (more
on this link.) Dinner and overnight.
Lepo Bunga -
the trailhead
Day 2 (B,L,D)
After early breakfast, go overland on logging roads (about 4-5 hours) to
Lepo Bunga, the trail head on the foothills of Mt. Murud. Ascend through
different montane forest vegetations. It would take about 4 hours to get
to Reked Meligan - the Church Camp. Check-in our basic mountain hut.
Time is free to discover the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at mountain hut.

Day 3 (B,L,D)
There are options for visitors on this day. One could choose to trek to
the Summit and visit the Rock Garden on the way. This return trip would
take about six to seven hours. One could also stay around church camp and visit Batu Linanit - a strategic lookout point which has lots of photo
opportunities. Overnight mountain hut.

Day 4 (B,L,D)
After breakfast, pack-up and descend the mountain to Ba'Kelalan. It
would take about 3 hours to descend the mountain and a further five
hours to trek to Buduk Nur in Ba'Kelalan. Much of this trek would be on
logging roads, village footpaths through rice paddies. Arrive Buduk Nur and check-in
Apple Lodge. Free and easy.
Day 5 (B,L,D)
Leisure day. After breakfast walk escorted walk
around Ba’Kelalan to visit apple and temperate fruit orchards. Climb up
the hill overlooking Buduk Nur for a panorama of the valley.
Photographers might want to walk around for shots of paddy fields,
people and landscapes. Overnight Apple Lodge.
Day
6 (B)
After breakfast, free and easy. Proceed to the airstrip for flight out.

RM 1,950 per person including airfares for trekkers from
Kuching- airfare routes KCH/MYY/LWS/BKM/MYY/KCH
