Tama'k (uncle) Ngimat Ayuh's homestay
would be one of the better places to stay in Bario. It
is clean, the rooms are comfortable and the view from
the veranda is plain spectacular. It is set by the main
road to Bario Asal, on the 'outskirts' of the village, approximately 2 km from the Bario E-Centre,
'commercial' area.
Your stay here costs RM 60 per day inclusive of hot 3
meals, tea and coffee at anytime and a bed with clean
sheets. They have both western sit and eastern squat
toilets and cold refreshing showers.
This homestay
has a longhouse setting and is elevated on a hill over looking rice
paddies and the Ulung Palang longhouse in the Kelabit
highlans.
We walked around from this
homestay to as far as the village of Bario Asal, the Bario Museum, with
its hill overlooking the mountains, plains and rice paddies.

Tama'k and Sinak Ngimat Ayuh. Ngimat was the paramount chief of
the Kelabits. He is a statesman and a real gentleman. Sinak is such a
dear lady and she made us feel like family.
Pre-dinner activity includes chatting with Sinak in
the kitchen at the fireplace.
